Second Saturday workshops are free to all members of the community and focus on addiction and recovery. National and local speakers present on current topics of interest to anyone who wishes to attend.

Workshops are held from 10 AM to 12 PM the second Saturday of each month at Austin Recovery's Edith Royal Campus located at 8402 Cross Park Drive. MAP

Two hours of continuing education credits are offered to chemical dependency professionals with LCDC, ADC, LCSW and LMSW certifications as approved by DSHS and TCBAP.

In addition to his duties as CEO of Austin Recovery for the past 12 years, Bill presents workshops around the country on the early history of Alcoholics Anonymous and the "Quiet Time" practices of its founders. He writes a monthly column for "Recovery Today" magazine and is a priest in the Episcopal Church with a special ministry to those in 12-Step recovery.

Saturday, February 09, 2008 - Presenter: Carol Colhoun is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor with 16 years of psychiatric/substance abuse experience. Her passion is working with recovering alcoholics/addicts and their families. In recent years she has focused on working with clients with financial compulsivity issues including compulsive debtors, compulsive shoppers, chronic under earners and deprivation addicts.

Carol has been trained by Pia Mellody in the Post Induction Therapy model, created by Pia. This model addresses developmental immaturity (codependence) caused by childhood trauma. Carol believes that the core issues that arise out of childhood trauma are the catalysts for the development of all addictive and compulsive behaviors.

He is a Fellow in the American Association of Pastoral Counselors, the author of ten books and published over 450 columns in the Austin American-Statesman. Bob has served the church as an ordained Presbyterian minister for 33 years. He was instrumental in founding a ministry to the poor and hurting of Dallas that included a soup kitchen, a battered women’s shelter, a housing ministry for homeless families, and a free standing all-night shelter for the homeless. Currently Bob is an adjunct member of the faculty of the Seton Cove Spirituality Center in Austin, Texas and teacher in residence at First Presbyterian Church of Austin. He & his wife are the proud parents of one daughter.
