Admissions Intake Counselor
Austin Recovery provides affordable, effective and compassionate drug and alcohol treatment since 1967. We are currently seeking an admissions intake counselor.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Screen clients for appropriateness and eligibility in person
- Discuss medial/psychiatric issues with nurses as needed
- Consult/seek supervision from Director of Admissions as needed
- Provide/document appropriate referrals and reason if unable to admit
- Complete all intake paperwork with client
- Count medications and accurately complete medication inventory form
- Complete funding paperwork and fax as needed
- Assist in keeping clients/staff sage in waiting room
- Write letters for clients to attorneys, judges, etc
- Screen clients for appropriateness and eligibility over phone, provide referrals as needed
- Effectively market Austin Recovery to potential self-funded clients/callers
- Troubleshoot any problems that may occur during the day
- Cover admissions desk and/or phones when Administrative Assistant is absent or at lunch
- Complete monthly billing and provide to Director of Contracts/Billing
- Maintain up-to-date required training
- Supervise Counselor Interns and QCC their work
- Perform other related assignments as directed by Program Director
Qualifications:
- Must be detail-oriented with good oral and written communication skills
- Professional and pleasant demeanor, able to develop rapport quickly
- Proficient in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word and Excel
- Proficient in CMBHS or able to become proficient
Education & Experience:
- Minimum education of master's degree in counseling or related clinical field required
- LCDC, LPC or LMSW, LCSW, LCDC-CI, LPC-I required
- Minimum one year experience in the recovery/treatment field
- Experience with insurance verification, certification and/or Utilization Review
