Assistant Cook/Dishwasher

Austin Recovery provides compassionate and effective drug and alcohol treatment since 1967. We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Cook/Dishwasher.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintains inventory of food and non-food items as required to prepare meals in accordance with dietitian approved menus. 
  • Prepares food order for approval by Food Service Coordinator
  • Maintains cleanliness of dining areas, kitchens, food storage areas and food preparation equipment in accordance with standards established by Health Department and other inspecting agencies
  • Performs other related assignments as directed by Food Services Coordinator

Qualifications:

  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Ability to independently prepare meals; requires lifting 40 lbs, knowledge and skill of food preparation, knowledge of Health Department requirements
  • Must have good health habits (washing hands often, etc)
  • Good eye hand coordination when handling sharp knives and other kitchen tools
  • Ability to follow recipes and instructions
  • Food Handler certificate by the Texas Department of Health

Education & Experience:

  • Prefer high school diploma or GED
  • Previous experience in institutional cooking preferred by willing to train.
