Nurse Practitioner/Manager

At Austin Recovery we safely help our clients withdraw from mood-altering chemicals and alcohol and provide them a chance at a new life. Our fully-licensed detoxification unit operates under the guidance and direction of a Board-certified and ASAM-certified Addictionologist. Clients receive around-the-clock nursing care and on-going sessions with counselors. Motivational interviewing encourages all clients to seek the appropriate level of follow-up care.

We are seeking a highly motivated, professional Nurse Practitioner to provide exceptional leadership of our Detox unit.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assigns, supervises and directs work efforts of all nursing, clinical and direct care staff
  • Assists in the development, implementation and maintenance of medical policy and procedures in close collaboration with the Medical Director
  • Provides leadership by working co-operatively with all other departments to ensure effective and efficient operation of the detox program
  • Supervises ordering, receiving, inventory control and disposal of medication
  • Provides relevant training for all departments on topics related to detox including medication and nursing protocols
  • Reviews medication administration audits quarterly for all programs
  • Supervises nursing staff in assisting the Medical Director during examination/consultation with patients
  • Performs medical history interviews and physical exams
  • Supervises the administration of all medications ordered by Medical Director
  • Maintains standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting
  • Supervise all nursing assessments on clients admitted to Detox
  • Ensures all nursing required and relevant nursing documentation is entered in client's medical charts
  • Conducts in-service training of nursing personnel
  • Maintains staffing patterns to assure adequate shift coverage
  • Performs other related assignments as directed by CEO/President

Qualifications:

  • Current Texas Nurse Practitioner credentials required
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing required
  • Current certification in CPR/First Aid required
  • Effective communications skills, ability to work with co-workers and establish rapport with clients
  • Skill to coordinate with other departments, agencies, organizations, individuals and the public

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing required
  • Current Texas Nurse Practitioner credentials required
  • Current certification in CPR/First Aid required
  • Knowledge of chemical dependency treatment and clinical protocols
  • At least two years previous experience working in the field of alcoholism/drug addiction preferred
